title: Path.noop()
---
The `Path.noop()` method adds a placeholder path operation.
A `noop` operation does nothing, but is intended to be replaced later
with [`Path.insop()`](/reference/api/path/insop).
## Signature
```js
Path path.noop(string id)
```
:::tip
This method is chainable as it returns the `Path` object
