title: "Sandy circle skirt: Sewing Instructions"
Due to the different styles and configurations of Sandy you may find you need to skip or re-order certain steps. We're not going to go into a full explanation on how to create all the individual details that make up a circle skirt. These instructions assume that you know how to sew a zipper, construct pockets, etc. If not, there are numerous excellent articles available on the web, both in writen form, and on video. If you do get stuck, you can always reach out to other FreeSewers in our discord.
Due to seamless and closure Sandy's needing different constructions we have separated their instructions.
Schritt 1: Vorbereitung des Rocks
- Nähe die Rock-Naht rechts auf rechts zusammen bis dahin, wo die Öffnung für den Verschluss beginnen soll.
- Add Pockets if using.
- If using lining, prep the same as the skirt.
- Finish seams if not lining.
Taschen sind in Sandy nicht enthalten, da sie standardmäßig nur eine Naht oder gar keine Nähte hat.
Wenn du Naht-Taschen haben möchtest, kannst du das Rock- Schnittmuster teilen, um Nähte zu erzeugen, in die du die Taschen einfügen kannst. Wenn du es in Drittel (standard) oder Hälften teilst, entstehen Seitennähte, in die du die Nahttaschen einfügen kannst. Vergiss nicht, Nahtzugaben an den Schnittlinien hinzuzufügen.
Wenn du keine zusätzlichen Nähte erstellen möchtest, aber trotzdem Taschen haben möchtest, kannst du eine Tasche aufsetzen, oder wenn du dich abenteuerlich fühlst, kannst du auch Paspeltaschen nähen.
Schritt 2: Bereite die Öffnung vor
- Insert zipper or placket into opening if using.
- If not using, press the openings seam allowance to the inside and Edgestitch/Topstitch in place. Nach Wunsch kannst du die Naht absteppen.
Überspringe diesen Schritt, wenn:
- du den Reißverschluss in den Bund einfügen möchtest. Du machst eine nahtlose Version.
Schritt 3: Wenden
- (optional) du kannst ein Zwischenfutter mit einem steiferen oder festeren Material erstellen.
- Attach Lining to skirt at hem and opening by your preferred method.
- Baste Lining to skirt at waist.
- Bei Bedarf Die Weite in Falten legen.
Der Bund
Verschlüsse
- Verstärke den Bund der Länge nach auf einer Hälfte. Oder verstärke eines der gebogenen Bundteile.
- Presse an der Seite, die nicht verstärkt ist, die Nahtzugabe nach unten um. Zurückschneiden. Hefte den Bruch, wenn nötig.
- Nähe den verstärkten Teil des Bundes rechts auf rechts an den Rock. Falls nötig, lege ein paar Falten.
- Wenn du den gebogenen Bund nähst, nähe die Bundteile mit Verstärkung rechts auf rechts auf die Teile ohne Verstärkung. Schneide die Nahtzugabe zurück, schneide sie ein und presse den nicht verstärkten Teil nach oben und weg vom Rock.
There will be some overhangs:
- Die Seite, die nicht zu sehen sein soll, sollte bei der Nahtzugabe überstehen.
- The side intended to overlap will have a greater overhang.
- If using a placket, both sides will overhang by your seam allowance.
- Wenn du einen Reißverschluss einnähst, muss die überlappende Nahtzugabe eingekürzt werden.
Inserting Zipper in Waistband
- Wenn du einen Reißverschluss einnähen willst, ist jetzt der richtige Zeitpunkt, den Reißverschluss von der Bruchlinie am Bund nach unten anzunähen. Oder von der Nahtlinie aus für den gebogenen Bund.
- Slipstitch or Whipstitch the lining to the zipper at this point if you have not treated the lining and skirt as one at the opening.
- Press under overhangs.
- Presse den Bund links auf links entlang des Bruches. Oder entlang der Nahtlinie bei gebogenen Bund.
- Slipstitch_ or Whipstitch the overhang edges to the zipper.
- Steppe den Bund knappkantig ab.
- Alternativ kannst du den Bund von der Innneseite mit Slipstitch oder Whipstitch heften.
Other closures
- Presse den Bund links auf links entlang des Bruches. Oder entlang der Nahtlinie bei gebogenen Bund.
- Sew the overhangs with your seam allowance.
- Wende den Bund, bügeln.
- Egdestitch the waistband in place, this should also close the gap of the over-lap.
- Alternatively, Slipstich or Whipstitch the waistband in place on the inside and close the gap of the over-lap with Slipstiching.
- Fügen Sie Snaps, Kleiderhaken oder Knopf und Knopfloch hinzu, was auch immer dein bevorzugter Verschluss des Bundübertritts ist.
Nahtlos
- If curved waistband with good sides together sew the two waistbands together along the shortest curved edge. Nahtzugaben auseinanderbügeln, einkürzen und einschneiden.
- With good sides together sew the waistband together along the short seams, leaving a gap for the elastic that will be on the inside.
- Press under the seam allowance on the long edge of the waistband that is intended to be on the inside.
- With good sides together attach the waistband to the skirt along the unpressed seam. Trim seam.
- Press waistband and seam allowance up away from skirt.
- Press the waistband to the inside along the fold-line/seam-line.
- Edgestitch the waistband in place.
- Alternatively you can Slipstitch or Whipstitch the waistband in place on the inside.
- Cut the elastic to your waist.
- Thread the elastic through the opening of the waistband making sure not to lose the end.
- Overlap the ends of the elastic by 1cm (3/8 inch) and zig-zag stitch in place.
- Tuck elastic into waistband and close the opening with hand-sewing.
Step 5: Hemming
If you have hemmed the skirt with the lining you can skip this step.
Hem the skirt in one of the following ways:
- Omit the hem allowance and bind the raw edge.
- Bind the raw edge of the hem allowance, single fold the hem under and either Topstitch or hand sew the hem in place.
- Double fold the hem under and either Topstitch or hand sew the hem in place. You may have heard this be called a Rolled hem.
There are many ways to hem/face the bottom of a skirt, If you have a prefered method use it here.
Step 6: Enjoy!
You are all done! Now go enjoy your wonderful new skirt and try not to get too dizzy showing off it's fullness!
